A lot of good advice.
While the lay out is not what I thought it would be - it does offer a lot of good advice, I found the bits on names and tags most helpful.

Great Resource Material, Some Pages Dinged Up.
The media could not be loaded. I have previously purchased the authors other book, about making maps, and can say I was extremely pleased. They are simple enough that one can merely browse them to glean helpful, useful, info. But they also offer deeper info to better understand what you may be trying to illustrate. If I had to make one complaint, it’s in the shipping. Both books I ordered arrived slightly dinged up. Would be great if better care was taken by the shipper to make sure the books arrived in better condition. Overall, I am pleased with the purchase, just disappointed with its condition upon arrival. I tend to like to keep my reference books in good condition but these already have dings. Would recommend.

Not what I expected, but a great product
This product is beautifully designed. Each page is attractive, full-color, and very informative, so I won't knock down its rating for what it is.However, it's not quite what I expected. I expected a book explaining how towns are designed, how they evolve, how many people make up a town vs. how many guards there are per person, how many of each type of building a medieval town has, and so forth. This book focuses mostly on how to draw specific types of buildings and town geography from a bird's eye view for maps, complete with what drawing tools are best, along with step-by-step instructions. It does explain a little bit about how towns develop, but I'd say this book as a whole is for middle school kids and teenagers interested in map cartography. I was hoping for a more in-depth look for adults.Again, though, for what this book is, it's wonderful. Just be aware it's not a super complex in-depth look that advanced map makers might be looking for. If you're a beginner, it may be just what you're looking for.

Awesome book
I got this for my 10-year-old nephew who's crazy about D&D. It's great for drawing both worlds maps and combat maps. I might order a copy for myself!

EXCELLENT RESOURCE FOR THE SUBJECT!!!
As was the first book of this kind by this very author, this book is EXCELLENT! Especially for people designing games or WRITERS of fantasy books for children and teens! Heck even for adults! This book is almost like a continuation of the first book. The first book focused in-depth on mapping out the OVERALL WORLD... Now this one zooms in on mapping out individual areas like cities, towns, castles, settlements, moats, farms, etc.!... The two books together--this one and the first--are an ABSOLUTE GOLDMINE--BUY!!!

Great Book for Drawing maps
I really like this book. He has lots of pictures and examples and it is applicable to drawing digitally even though he is drawing with pen and pencil.

Perfect for beginners
I have always drawn maps but always used someone else's stuff for villages, towns and cities. I have been trying things straight from the book for two weeks now and I think alot of my villages look better than the ones I was using. Very imformative for a beginner and has renewed my enthusiasm for drawing. I have his first book also and really liked that too. Can't wait for the next.

Intrigante

Exactly what I wanted it to be
The book arrived in perfect condition and held wonderful instructions on many of the things I needed help with. Cities, rivers, hamlets, towns, trees, temples, hills, paths, and even coat of arms, which was cool. I am very happy with it.
