This is midway between the gloss of the glossy finish varnish, and the dull finish of the matte finish varnish. It has a dull sheen - Getting a bit of the two extreme types. It avoids the strong glare associated with glossy varnish, yet keeps the artwork from appearing too dull or muted.

Q: Can it be used on wooden coasters painted with acrylic colors? Is it non-toxic and heat resistant?

It can be used on wooden coasters(not tried personally though). Not sure about the non-toxic/heat resistant part.
