Knives made in Japan are better than knives made anywhere else. If you donβt have a steak knife made in Japan I highly recommend it. Best Steak Knife I have ever used.
These guys are expensive. However, I wanted to see if they were worth the hype.so, I bought 1. LOL, not a set. Just 1. This knife is incredible. It cuts through steak like a samurai warrior cuts through his enemy. little effort required on your part. Just get the knife close to the steak and it will take care of the rest. I do recommend it.

A piece of Blade Art.
Excellent blade. Well balanced weighting. A piece of art.I would have liked a storage sheath but the packagingwould be qualified as presentation grade.

Beautiful but Big
This is a beautiful, well made, albeit expensive, knife with certain distinct characteristics which may or may not be to your liking. First, it's huge: Just about identical in size, with a slightly more curved blade profile at the end, to my Yoshihiro Cutlery Hammered Damascus Petty Chef Knife, 5-Inch. For me it's just too big for a table knife. Second, it has a light, somewhat insubstantial feel, which many will like. I happen to prefer a more solid, substantial feel. I chose to return it, and order another ZHEN Japanese VG-10 Damascus Utility/Steak Knife, 4.5-Inch, which I know and like. I deducted one star because it's so oversized for my needs, especially the height of the blade. But if you eat really thick steaks on a regular basis, you may well find it to be perfect. It's big, thin, light, super sharp and well made. Note however, that the one I received was VG10 not the VG-MAX which the latest versions come with.

So good. I wish I could buy more.
It's so expensive, but it is the best steak knife in my drawer. I recently bought a Shun santoku knife that was so good, I had to buy one steak knife. If you feel like splurging, this knife is perfectly indulgent.

great knife
this is an amazing steak knife, perhaps the best i have ever used.it's gorgeous and like all shun premier knives, shockingly sharp. it makes other steak knives look like butter knives.the only reason i give it 4 stars is this: they do not fit in the steak knife slots of shun knife blocks.i mean, come on guys. it is really so difficult to design your steak knives and blocks so that the former fit in the latter? why even include steak knife slots if your own steak knives do not fit in them?

Makes me want to be more carnivorous!
We have an old set of Chicago steak knives and one day they just didn't seem to "cut it" for me. We have other Shun knives (Classic) that we love, so we decided to splurge on just two of these as an anniversary present to ourselves. We are so happy we did. My husband has been known to use one instead of a paring knife. Really beautiful and sharp! (as with all our good knives, we wash and dry them immediately after use and store them carefully.)

Be careful here. IF you are buying these Shun ...
Be careful here. IF you are buying these Shun Premier Steak knives individually, to complete, or extend, a set, be aware that they are not always identical to the ones available from Shun's main site, itself. The handle end of the blade is a 90 degree cut, whereas the normal Shun Premiere Steak Knife is slightly circular at that point, a slight curve... No big deal? Okay, sure. The weight differs by 2 grams also. Why? Who knows?
