will this work on an 8 ft long by 4 ft highfence ?

I would go with the large gate model spring for a 8' wide gate. I have a 3' wide gate and the regular model has plenty of tension when adjusted properly.

Will this work on a 5/8” diameter post?

The smallest diameter it will fit is 1-1/4", for anything smaller you would need to add some type of shim material.

would this fit a 6'x 6'gate?

How wide is a "small" gate? Will it work on a 4` gate?

I recently installed 3 of these. All work fine and even brush away limited snowfall as they close. Sizes of gates were 32" , 36" and 42". I feel 48" would work.
