How hard is the plastic they are made from. Is it softer?

It is not a rock hard solid item but is not a cuddly,squishy item like a stuffed toy is either . and thus they will stand on the surface where you place them and not simply fall over. I bought them for a 15 month granddaughter and she has enjoyed them and can now identify them. I am happy with my purchases as they do seem a good quality product.
