Very satisfying to build and decorate
This kit was very, very detailed, which I loved. Every tiny potion bottle, book, accessory and flower was fun to fabricate. The directions were relatively clear, particularly compared to other kits I have done. There are a ton of things that must be cut and carefully glued together and some of the wooden parts are tiny to the point that getting them popped out is a very anxiety inducing experience, unfortunately, and I lost more than a couple parts to this issue. I innovated and did my best to build around the broken parts or I glued them back together, when possible. Regardless, I had a ton of fun making this and even more fun decorating it. The vines may seem impossible at first, but they ended up being one of my favorite parts to decorate. I also enjoyed building the furniture and the clock. On the down side: some parts were slightly warped/bent, making them impossible to fit together perfectly, which resulted in the 3 main pieces being hard to fit together towards the end of construction (when fixing any errors or accounting for warped pieces it's already impossible), and, sadly, the lights I installed so carefully do not work at all. You are told to test them before construction... however, if you do this as instructed, getting the wires through the tiny wall holes and the beads which make up light fixtures becomes impossible. My contractor fiancé was unable to get any of the lights to work and tested the battery box, finding it created no electrical current. Two of the lights also have no labeled positive and negative leads... it's just two silver wires with no indication of which is which. Further, there is no insulation on these two lights as there is on the others. Not sure what was up with that, but we eventually gave up on getting them to work and just wired the others... but without any success. Finally, on the negative side, a whole baggy of pieces was missing when I received the kit. Once I figured this out, I emailed the seller and was sent the missing pieces about a week later. So the seller is responsive and helpful!Regardless of the warped wood and nonfunctional lights, this kit is worth trying out if you enjoy putting together lots of tiny bits and pieces and love some magical themed goodness.

Absolutely Beautiful, Just buy it!
The Magic Treasure House features plentiful rich details in. well designed project. The material are high quality. This is not a kit for beginners. It requires that many of the 3D details be built and there is a lot of paper detail application as well. You will be folding books, rolling scrolls, gluing and wiring. Some of the house structure is created by gluing, some by connecting with typical tab and slot structure. This would make a great project for a parent or older sibling to do with a 14+ teen. In the case of this version of the kit the finished project is both a decorative item and a music box. Not for small children due to the small parts. This is a project that you should plan to break it up into smaller projects to do over a week or two. This is not weekend or afternoon build. So you'll want to set up in a spot where the project can stay while in progress. The final project has a foot print of about 7 inches X 9 inches. This version of the Magic Treasure House comes with a dust cover as well as a wind up music box mechanism.A tool kit with a scissors, tweezers, ruler, craft blade, and screw driver, and a small emery board is included. You will need to provide batteries and glue. There are restrictions on shipping glue. I like Aleene's Original Tacky Glue, the quick grab formula allows for easy hold and placing of small items, enough time for exact positioning, and a fast preliminary dry time so no propping or holding things together waiting for the glue to set. However you should allow at least 2 hours for a secure set, and better overnight for a full set and cure that will hold up to manipulation of pieces. You can find it here on Amazon. White clear drying permanent school glue can also be used.Having a few extra nail files with a pointed tip and a fine side, and tooth picks for placing small amounts of glue is helpful. If you think you might do another one of these save the tools that any of the tool each kit comes with. They come in handy. You'll develop favorites to use on all your miniature projects.I like to use rubber cement or museum putty to hold movable objects in place but still allow them to be repositioned if I want. You will also need batteries for the lighting. The directions are mostly pictures, very little text. DO NOT take all the pieces out of the cards and bags at once. Take only the ones you need at each step in the process. The numbers indicating the piece are next to the piece on the card, not on the piece. The pieces are positioned on the card to minimize waste so items needed may be spread across more than one card. For 3D detail pieces you will be directed to the clearly labeled bags. having a tray with multiple compartments is handy so tat you don't lose small pieces and can set aside the small details you will be building. If you haven't set aside a plastic tray from another kit a muffin tin, or foil and paper type cupcake liners comes in handy or this. There is a green sheet in the box that directs you to an on-line source of a PDF that you can zoom in on if needed. Also a link to an on-line step by step build video that can help if you get stuck.Take your time and enjoy the build. You will never tire of examining the detail of his tiny miniature world or of the sense of accomplishment when it is finished.Highly recommended.
